Companies continue to hire amidst the Covid-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 led economic uncertainty in India and has forced some companies to put hiring freeze, cut jobs and even withdraw offer letters but some companies continue to hire.

New Delhi: Zamroo, India’s leading online marketplace for consumer to consumer space (C2C) has announced today its not going to cut any jobs due to the pandemic but will continue to expand its operations and will honour all of its commitments in terms of job offers, internships and other activities.

When many companies announced layoffs, furloughs and freeze on fresh hiring across the globe, some of the new recruits at the company were worried that their job offer’s would be withdrawn or their joining date might be deferred however the company not only honoured its offers but also virtually on-boarded most of them on the committed date.

In a discussion with Rakesh Kapoor, Founder & CEO of Zamroo, the company is leveraging technology to on-board the new joinees and assigning them the projects. The company has seen surge in traffic on its platform in last few weeks and is upbeat on future adaptability of online platforms. He also said Coronavirus pandemic a bigger opportunity than a threat for India.

As we are all going through an unprecedented situation requiring a lockdown, however company is absolutely confident that once the lockdown is over by 3rd May, the market will spring back and win in the marketplace. Currently the company has more than 82,000 plus sellers registered on its platform and have more than 3,80,000 active listings across PAN India. The company said 7,000 – 8,000 sellers registering on the platform in last few weeks itself.

Covid-19 has helped us to achieve in 6-8 weeks what we were planning to achieve since last 3 years in the company, we have used this time to fully automate our most of the processes using AI and other technologies.

It’s not only Zamroo but some other companies including Infosys, TCS, PepsiCo India, Walmart Labs, Grophers, etc are also honoring their commitments in terms of new hires, campus recruits, Internship offers or even lateral hiring which clearly demonstrates that India Inc. is optimistic on future prospects. Infact IT sector, eCommerce, eLearning companies have opened their doors for fresh graduates and experienced candidates and released more than 2 lakhs jobs in last 3-4 weeks despite lockdown.

Zamroo has also said it is extending its paid listings to selected list of customers across PAN India FREE OF COST till 30th June’ 2020 and anyone who wants to sell any of its unused/used product can list its product on Zamroo platform and contact the company’s support team if they would like to get it featured without paying a single penny for the paid listings.

India, last week, decided to extend its lockdown restrictions till 3rd May, to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, which has so far claimed 590 lives and infected 18,601 individuals so far.
