Considering the nationwide lockdown and breakdown of India, one of the top universities of India; University of Delhi had plans to to conduct their examinations through online modes.
This is planned for the safety of the students. Also, conducting semester examinations will be very difficult in the case of social distancing. Hence, they need to come out with a solution to this issue. Students cannot be promoted just on the basis of the previous semester’s results. which is why Delhi University is planning to take exams online, although there is no confirmation given from the University’s side. However, the professors of the University are not really happy with the decision. They do not find it practical enough.
University of Delhi has 77 colleges and have 1,30,000 students aprox on its roll. Many of them belong to villages with poor network. It will be next to impossible to conduct an online examination for all of the students all together. Hence the Delhi University teachers are not happy with the decision.
Rakesh Jha, a member of executive council has recently given his statement for this matter. He said, “This is not only imprudent on the part of DU officials but also beyond their jurisdiction, as they are trying to bypass the statutory bodies such as the AC and EC which are empowered to take decisions and resolve the examination matters,”
Delhi University, in the past, fails to conduct the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) and hard to take ek help from National Testing Agency(NTA). Is a mayor entrance examination conduction is hard nut to crack all together, conducting the Delhi University semester examinations will be practically too difficult.
