US election 2020: Results still Awaited, Donald Trump Declares ‘We Have Already Won’

While Republican candidate and incumbent President Donald Trump is seeking a return to office for a second term, Democrat leader Joe Biden has campaigned aggressively to grab the White House seat.

Even as results from several states were yet to come in, US President Donald Trump addressed supporters and declared victory. Trump said Republicans have already won several key states in the US presidential elections and as far as he is concerned, victory has been sealed.

“Frankly, we did win,” Trump told supporters at the White House.

According to Associated Press, early trends from the states showed Joe Biden was leading with 225 electoral votes as compared to Donald Trump’s 213 at the time Trump made his speech.

“This is a fraud on the American public… we were getting ready to win the election, frankly we have won the election. Our goal now is to ensure integrity… We’ll be going to the US Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop,” said Trump as his supporters cheered him on.

Trump further added, “We will win this, as far as I am concerned, we have already won.”

Election results from some battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia, were still not clear and projections from major networks and Edison Research showed Trump still short of the 270 electoral votes need to win re-election.
